The Old Starch Cat
You know the starch cat,
her name is Specklepikkelmies;
she wears a kind of red and fur skin
with tiger stripe and leopard trim.
She sits very still all day,
sometimes on the stairs, sometimes on the mat.
She sits and sits and sits and sits.
In short, a real starch cat.
But...
when after the day the stumbling stops,
it is as if the starch cat becomes stretched.
The cockroach people, she thinks,
has nothing to do.
Which only leads
to vandalism.
So she molded decent akelas and cubs out of that bunch of scum, one after another,
