Je Me Voyais Deja
At 18 I left my province
Determined to take hold of life
With my heart out ger and the slim baggage
I was sure of conquering Paris
At the most chic tailor, I had this blue suit made which was of the latest fashion
The photos, the songs and the orchestrations
Were worth my savings
I already saw myself at the top of the poster
Ten times bigger than anyone my name was displayed
I already saw myself adored and rich
Signing my photos to the admirers who jostled each other
I was the greatest, great fantasists
Making such a success that people cheered for me on their feet
I could already see myself, searching in the list
The one who in the evening could, as a favor, hang herself on my neck
My features have aged of course, under my makeup
But the voice is there, the gesture is precise and I have spring
My heart is a little sour as I get older
But I have ideas, I know my job, I still believe in it
Just under my feet to feel the stage
To see an audience seated in front of me, my heart is racing
They didn't help me, I wasn't lucky
But deep down, I'm sure at least that I have talent
I've been wearing my blue suit for 30 years
And my songs only make me laugh
I run the gamut, I go door to door

The pitiful fees, the suitcases to wear

I could already see myself, in photography

I already saw myself, telling my life story,
With a disillusioned air, to beginners fond of advice
I opened calmly, in the evenings premiere
A thousand telegrams from all of Paris which scares us so much
And dying of stage fright, in front of this audience
Entering the stage, under ovations and the spotlight
I tried everything, however, to stand out from the crowd
I sang about love, I did comedy and fantasy
If everything failed for me, if I'm in the shadows
It's not my fault but that of the public who didn't understand anything
I was never given my chance
D Others have succeeded with few votes and a lot of money
I was too pure or too advanced
But a day will come when I will show them that I have talent
