First ask Dr. Diavolo!
The famous magic cat
(the only real one in town).
Don't run away and pay attention to what I say.
His show is completely homemade. Nothing stolen.
No tomcat has so many talents;
who has almost all the patents
on amazing hallucinations
and on spectacular vibrations.
No circus artist does not have great respect
for Dr. Diavolo's magician's act.

He is small, inconspicuous and black
from his ear to the tip of his tail;
every ridge is something after his heart,
every hole something after his nature.
With his eyes closed he guesses a card,

the mouse interests him more.
The trick with the cork is also successful,
each herringbone mysteriously disappears;
when you're looking for your fork or your knife
and you think: I'll just drop them.
