night closed his eyes, opened the gate to a familiar dream
night cleared the day's snow, I put old memories to sleep

I had a bad dream, in the form of a deer you came to get me
you said the flood was coming, you asked me to run away with you

I saw snow...
I wake up, get dressed and run to the backyard
found deer tracks worn from the grass
I go to follow them
