though His tender love
is no license to sin
He's leading me on
and I know I can make it
I'm not where I'm headed
but I'm not where I've been
you can get down on me
but don't get down on Jesus
just call it my fault
if my light is dim
His word is still true
His grace is sufficient
so if I stumble
don't blame it on Him
why He'd look my way
is still a great mystery
like the thief on the cross
there's no way I can lose
in his arms of love
He knows how to hold me
cause He came from above
to walk a mile in my shoes
