Peter, however, then answerèd and said to him.
Although the others all be annoyed because of thee, yet will I never
feel annoyance.
Jesus said to him:
Truly, I say to thee: in this same night, before the cock croweth, wil
thou three times have denied me.
Peter said to him:
And even if I must die with thee, I will not ever deny thee.
And so declared all the other disciples
I would stand here beside thee;
Do not then scorn me!
From thee I will not depart
Even if thy heart is breaking.
When thy heart shall grow pale
In the last pang of death,
Then I will grasp thee
In my arms and lap.
