There lived a woman in the north by the sea.
She gave birth to two daughters, a long time ago.
One was fair and of a beautiful figure,
but the older one was dark and cold.
Jealousy gnawed at her year and day,
she wished the more beautiful one was in the grave,
and then one day, the wind was blowing hard,

The wind and the waves roar and scream,
far over the cliffs, loudly over the stone,
yet through sounds come from the wind and the waves,
the girl's voice, a song like a scream.
Two minstrels were walking on the windy beach,
they found the lifeless body in the sand,
they took her hair, they took her leg,
they built the harp to release the song.
When they placed it on the beach in the wind,
she began to play, they wept blindly,
a tune sounded so sadly and quietly
she revealed the name of the murderer.

Oh cruel ones Sister, what have you done,
killed the girl in a feverish madness,
