Chilly winds are a blowing
across the meadows brown
The snows will soon be closing
all the roads that lead to town
I can see the clouds are gathering
And the birds are headed south
Its time to gather firewood
and get the blankets out
Chilly winds blowing cold
across the mountains
Bringing all the cold and the snow
Just feeling all this cold
makes you wonder now and them
Will God bring the springtime again
Been a patching and a fixing
All the summer through
Try to keep the wind
and the snows from coming through
The crops are in the cellar
We stored them all away
I hope that they will last us
till winters Had its say
Now the Lord He has helped us
and He's surely seen us through
The roughest winter that we've had
Since the one in forty two
Its time to start our planting
And to fix up again
It won't be long before we feel
