Forever
For a hundred years – or so it seems -
You’ve been the maker of my dreams.
But how was it I thought that might not last?
How could I have let you go - not tried much harder then to know –
The things I knew kept us close in the past?
Maybe now it was to do –
With all the people I met who –
I could never keep inside my life while I –
Was always jumping all around - like some itinerant joking clown –
Who never learned to laugh - nor how to cry!
So now I need to say to you –
Though I know it seems we’re really through -
I‘m sorry for the times I’ve let you down –
If there were now some way that I - could rewind life to times gone by –
In the very ways you’d want - I’d be around…
