I Want To Go Back…
I want to go back – to those hills and mountains –
To those streams and rivers and valleys too.
To those becks and burns and those glens so gentle –
I want to go back – and I want to find you.
I want to go back – and I want to find you.
Do you remember when - we used to go off camping
With so little money but with so much hope.
When we thought we needed - to be alone and peaceful –
And were so tired and drained then – we thought we couldn’t cope.
We would walk and talk and needed no one else then –
The trees and mountains all became our friends.
We would climb all day and soak up all there was there-
And we’d love to be all alone at each day’s end.
The times we climbed old Ben Lomond –
And that lovely Loch watched us all the way.
And in the lakes we did Coniston’s Old Man
And walked around the Water nearly every day…
