In the shadow of the last sun
a fisherman had fallen asleep
and he had a furrow along his face
like a kind of smile.
A murderer came to the beach
two large eyes of a child
two enormous eyes of fear
they were the mirrors of an adventure.
And he asked the old man, give me bread
I have little time and too hungry
/>and asked the old man, give me the wine
I am thirsty and I am a murderer.
The old man opened his eyes to the day
he didn't even look around
but poured the wine and broke the bread
for those who said I'm thirsty and I'm hungry.
And it was the heat of a moment
then off again towards the wind
still the sun before my eyes
behind a fisherman's back.
Behind a fisherman's back
and the memory is already pain
it is already the regret of an April
played in the shade of a courtyard .
Two gendarmes came riding
they came riding with weapons
they asked the old man if a murderer had passed nearby.
But in the shadow of last sun
the fisherman had fallen asleep
and he had a furrow along his face
like a kind of smile
and he had a furrow along his face
like a sort of of smile.
