Aidan Moffat my goodbye

My goodbye will never come,
for my heart has warned each lung
that they must not blow the air
up my throat, over my tongue
and past my teeth and lips
to form a reckless lie;
they've sworn an oath, they've made a pact:
they will never say goodbye,
They won't allow a whisper,
they won't concede a hum;
they've vowed and they have promised
my goodbye will never come
