Ataraxia mundus furibundus carmina burana

This furious world
provides false joys
because they flow and run
the lily of the field
the glory of worldly life is vain
removes the true rewards
for it pushes and drowns
soul in tartar
carnal and mortal law
very transitory
flees and passes like a shadow
which is not corporeal
let us let go and perish
like oak leaves< br/>let us flee and condemn
the sweet ways of life
plunder in the future
precious gifts
that we may deserve to be congratulated with the righteous and the elect
in heavenly glory
for ever and ever
(Carmina Burana - 12th-13th cent. - anonymous)
