Evan Chambers halogen sun

A spindly man has some crooked legs
He's slaving down in the store below
He don't understand machines he sells
No one's going to wait when he moves too slow
He makes small talk for far too long
To reminisce of another time
Of trees taller than what we built
When anyone could escape the manmade sky
Nothing grows here anymore
But we're closer to that halogen sun
We built that sky didn't we? Don't say we lost a thing
Smoke rises from the ground we squandered,
And the breath we conquered
Meet the boy with some crooked teeth
You can't tell the color his eyes are
The old man tried to talk to him
But from his machine he don't waver far
He eats a pill for every flaw
His room is made from cinderblocks
His friends live only on the screen
He don't look up when he talks
Nothing grows here anymore
But we're closer to that halogen sun
We built that sky didn't we? Don't say we lost a thing
Smoke rises from the ground we squandered,
And the breath we conquered
Each pixel of the manmade sky
Is packed with pulsing satellites
To distract out plasma hearts
From how we live and die
The only sin is to stand too still
I want to feel faster than before
My crowded reality don't care
If I don't grow anymore
We don't know the ground we're from
Nothing grows here anymore
But we're closer to that halogen sun
We built that sky didn't we? Don't say we lost a thing
Smoke rises from the ground we squandered,
And the breath we conquered
