My soul waits silently for God alone;
From Him is my salvation.
He alone is my salvation and my rock,
He is my stronghold;
I shall not be shaken.
How long will you set upon a man,
That you may destroy him, all of you.
Like a leaning wall,
Like a tottering fence?
They conspire to topple him
Down from his exalted place;
They delight in lies.
With their mouths they bless,
But in their hearts they curse.
My soul, wait silently for God alone;
For my hope will come from Him.
He alone is my salvation and my rock,
He is my stronghold;
I shall not be shaken.
On God my salvation and my honor rest;
The rock of my strength,
He is my refuge.
Trust in Him at all times, O my friends;
Pour your heart out to the Lord,
For God is our refuge.
Lowborn men are emptiness,
Highborn men are but a lie;
In the balance they go up;
Together they weigh less than a breath.
Do not trust in oppression,
And do not vainly hope in robbery;
If your riches increase,
Do not set your heart upon them.
One thing God has spoken;
Two things I have heard:
That You, O God, are strong;
And You, O Lord, are merciful.
Surely You will reward each man
According to what he has done.
