Jonny Taylor my dad

I saw a young boy standing by his mountain bike
He had his hat turned on backwards there was grease over his hands and his face
He showed me how his father helped him tighten the chain
And the brand new front tire that they put on together
And I could tell by the look on his face
These are things he'll remember
I saw a young girl tying up her shoelace
I asked her if she needed help she smiled and said No thanks.
She told me how her daddy helped her pick out her shoes
And later he told her how to tie them up
I just played along while she showed me how to tie my boots
She said my dad's the brave one, my dad's the hero
My dad's the strong one, the one that I can turn too
And it's a feeling that I know myself
When I think about my old man
Yes the pride in her voice when she says
My dad.
I've heard my father talking about his old man
Sometimes I see a tear forming in the corner of his eye
He thinks about his childhood and the lesson's he learned
The same kind of things he's passed on to us
My brother and I are proud to be the next in line
He said my dad's the brave one, my dad the hero
My dad's the strong one, the one that I can turn too
And it's a feeling I know myself
When I think about my old man
It's the pride in his voice when he says
My dad.
There's something so special about a pair of hands
Seems to build everything from scratch
And there the same hands that lead you when feel like you've lost your way
When I grow up I'm gonna be just like my dad
Because my dad's the brave one, my dad the hero
My dad's the strong one, the one that I can turn too
And it's a feeling that I know too well
When I think about my old man
Can he hear pride in my voice when I say
That I'll always cherish the time spent together
When I grow up I'm gonna be just like
My dad.
