Twentysomething hit me just today
Right between the eyes and
Woke up with little at all to say
And a world to realize
Monday runninâ finding something new
Try to fit it all in right now
âcause Tuesday may not see me through
and Iâve lost it all somehow
This ever-changing tide
Has left us high and dry
But weâve got so much life to live
Before we wave this time goodbye
So thereâs life after twenty-seven fades away
Still we believe in all these lies
Youth is blind and runninâ afraid
That age is the enemy line
Idealism haunts us like a ghost
In the attic of self-contempt
Weâre gonna have to make it on our own
No matter how alone we get
Oh I wish Iâd asked for help back then
Oh God Iâve been na?ve
Hindsightâs twenty-twenty way back when
And I hope I still believe
This ever-changing tide
Has left us high and dry
But weâve got so much life to live
Before we wave this time goodbye
If somehow thirty sneaks up on us
Before weâve done it all
Somethings gotta give
Oh our tower standing tall
Twentysomething freedom lead me on
Iâll take this minute, revel in it
And proudly take my fall
Proudly take my fall
