Lauren Lapointe butterfly

Every morning when I wake and see the sun
I yawn and stretch and wonder what I will become
Will I always be so clumsy and so small
Will I ever learn to run or must I always crawl
CHORUS:
I want to be strong
I want to be tall
I want to see the whole wide world
And never have to fall
I wish I could fly
And one day I’m going to try
I want to be just like a butterfly
In the afternoon I start to feel so brave
But when I stretch my wings I’m told I must behave
I want to play I want a taste of everything
Even if it’s bitter than I’ll know that it can sting
CHORUS
And in the evening when the stars they shine
I want to touch them all but they just can’t be mine
I’m tired of living in my warm and safe cocoon
I’d rather be up in the sky with the moon
CHORUS X 2
I want to be just like a butterfly
