Madonna
A Cinema In Buenos Aires, 26 July 1952
(An audience is watching a less than distinguished movie.
[In both the original London and New York productions of
EVITA, a clip from one of Eva Peron's own movies was used].
The soundtrack dialogue is in Spanish, the music melodramatic.)
(Julieta:) Carlos.
(Carlos:) Julieta, mi dear Juliet.
(Juliet:) Carlos, you shouldn't have come.
(Carlos:) Juliet, not even a thousand soldiers can stop me.
(Juliet:) But it's dangerous, my father will arrest you.
(Carlos:) I had to come.
(Juliet:) Carlos!
(Carlos:) Until this moment, my lips have not dared to murmur
the word love.
(Julieta:) Carlos.
(Carlos:) And much more than that, my entire being vibrates with desire.
What was that? Something moved on your father's balcony. If I were that scoundrel Rodolfo, I swear that my sword will not
remain in his sheath
(Juliet:) Carlos, be careful! I love you, Carlos, I love you.
(Suddenly the film grinds to a halt. The people in the cinema
begin to protest but are silenced by an announcement.)
(The Voice of the Secretary of the Press:)
It is my sad duty to inform you that Eva Peron, spiritual leader
of the nation, entered immortality at 8:25 this evening.
