Russ Taff missionary man

They came from every village and town
To say goodbye to the missionary man
And one by one they spoke about his life
The way he lived and why he died
Some loved him, some hated him
Some said that he would live again
But they all agreed he was a brave, brave man
For preaching love in this troubled land
And He gave his life for what He believed
And He believed in what He gave
But when the choice came down to live or die
There was no choice to be made
What makes a man leave the ones he loves
To love the ones who don’t care about him
To walk a road that others fear
And stand alone with no one near?
It was not for money, it was not for fame
Damascus rode and his life was changed
And tears would stream down his face
As he spoke of God’s amazing grace
And He gave his life for what He believed
And He believed in what He gave
But when the choice came down to live or die
There was no choice to be made
They arrested Him just before dawn
And marched Him through the crowds with scorn
“Repent! Repent!” they cried with might
That’s the only thing that will save your life
And He gave his life for what He believed
And He believed in what He gave
But when the choice came down to live or die
The choice was already made
