Sarah Winters laid down in thoughts of you

Blue like the sky, like the ocean
Your eyes are unremarkable
Think of all the oceans, all the skies
My mind is weak and weary
My body is willing
I told myself I wouldn’t wait
But by default my lack of movement
Makes it quite obvious what I’m doing
My mind is listless and lazy
Laid down in thoughts of you
I’m much inspired by the trees
With their long arms intertwined sharing leaves
Sharing leaves with the ground in the fall,
Bearing everything like a whore
Until the snow covers it all like a blanket
Whores under blankets,
Dress yourselves through spring and summertime,
Become ashamed under the burning sun
Burning sun, melt away the blankets
And leave me ashamed
