That Night Forests Grew from a life

On foreign soil our hearts met,
A true romance with no regrets.
We drank until our eyes distort,
Our drunken hearts controlled with lust.
Along the water's edge I walked,
A desperate soul admit the shore.
With a heart so pure and a mind so bold,
Left me the silent, it felt so cold.
Hand in hand stand the people you love but when love is lost what is left to call ours?
I am afraid of what we've become.
I'm so afraid of you.
Now we're back on familiar land and I'm struggling to reach your hand;
But I stand so silent and so still, and I wait surrounded by the demons we call emotions as it becomes clear
That there will never be a sea without ships, a fire without flames, a life without love.
As I come to realise the sincerity of the devil's work- that is you.
You are the devil in my heart.
