Theo Jacobsen or so i surmised

In the great plains of Africa I am a strand
In my search for the source of the Nile
My two brave companions meet grievous ends
This place takes the best men first, oh it must
Stare long enough into moonlit waters
And you'll see your skeleton
But look past yourself and you'll find upon the lake
A million stars to light the way
Three days in the jungle
I'm just trying to survive
Eating bugs, anything I can find
When a beast, black and fearsome
Descended from the vines
With teeth of a tiger, looked like a demon of man
Or so I surmised
Stare long enough into moonlit waters
And you'll see your skeleton
But look past yourself and you'll find upon the lake
A million stars to light the way
I know the answers I seek I might never find
But the questions I have never leave my mind
Behold life in its desperation
I look unto the constellations
Moonlight lines a path to the mountain
From the night sky came lightning, flood and flame
Now I know what's at stake
Stare long enough into moonlit waters
And you'll see your skeleton
But look past yourself and you'll find beyond the lake
A million stars to light the way
If they ask, tell them I was brave
That somehow I found a way
Through the depths of the wild
To the heart of the Nile
The heart of the Nile
