Progress From Afar
Album: In Continuous Movement (2002)
I tried to imagine progress
Like a great sick soul
A enormous concatenation of causes and effects
Large numbers and infinitesimal probabilities
Like certain dawns in Rome
Whose light slowly lists the trees
Thus the line of progress expands
Transforming the colors of things into just one
White
I tried to imagine progress
Like masses of men moving around
Chasing impossible balances
Mixing color of a flag
With the electric noise of a fast food restaurant
I confuse the good with the goods
And I disperse my consciousness in one-way streets
I will watch progress from afar
To be fascinated by it and not fully involved
I don't see any other way to save enthusiasm
In this world
Where everyone tends to chase
Only the ideal of himself
By multiplying the sense of power
Searching for compromise
Yet we live in progress
We use it to listen to ourselves
To accommodate ourselves, to save enthusiasm
br/>And we misunderstand it with the culture of the image
Of the body, of appearance
We occupy its frequencies,
and we make use of certain of its extensions
up to stay tanned by it
because it can also replace the light of the sun
and the search for a God
So, instinctively, we seek protection
And we place distances between true of ourselves
And everything that is different
Multiplying the sense of power,
seeking compromise.
I will watch progress from afar
To be fascinated by it and not involved until after all
I don't see another way to save enthusiasm
In this world
Where everyone tends to chase
Only the ideal of themselves
By multiplying the sense of power
Searching for compromise
I like to imagine another point of the universe
Opposite to ours
Where a man rambles about the progress of his world
From a window created
In the middle of a metropolis
