Crying In The Call Box
Crying In The Call Box
She could take it when they sacked her - they just blew her job away â
But it made her feel so useless â trudging through the streets all day.
She wants to work and do her bit â and feel part of it all â
But now sheâs a statistic â her life is going to the wall.
She went crying to the call box - in front of you and me.
She went pouring out her troubles there for all the world to see.
Maybe asking him to see her â so that they could try again.
Maybe telling him she knew that he was not like other men.
She could take it when they threw her out of her old flat.
It was cold and damp and gloomy there â but it was home for all of that.
Now she needs a place again - that she could call her own.
She thought her travelling days were done âwhen she first called that flat her home.
She could take it when they took her little baby girl away;
They said she couldnât fend for her â and keep her in the way â
A small child should be raised today â and given love and care;
But they didnât tell her how and when - and they didnât tell her where.
What they didnât tell her â what they didnât say -
Was what she should do now that â they took so much away.
No, what they couldnât tell her â what they couldnât say -
Was what she should do now that â they took so much away.
So when they finally took her man away âthat was the long last straw.
Now all she ever had in life had gone forever more.
She begged him and she pleaded â for him to take her back â
So they could try between them â to get on the right trackâ¦
