Out Where
Out Where
I know I’m back at home here - where I’m supposed to be;
But every time I’m in a crowd - it’s your face that I see.
If I could wish myself back there - I’d do it right away;
I’d be out there beside you - I’d be right there today.
Out where the ocean - swallows the sunset -
Out where the moonrise - smiles at the sea.
Out where the stars there - are so different from ours where -
I first felt your arms cling - so tightly round me...
While I was out there with you the time just fairly flew.
There was oh so much to see there - and just as much to do.
Will I once more walk with you there and watch the sun kiss Cullen bay?
And once more sail with you - through the straits round Whitsunday?
Will we ride our bikes our bikes once more- round those winding cycleways -
Right out to Pee Wee’s on the Point or just to Fannie Bay ?
Or down to Stokes Hill Wharf there - to watch the ships and sea?
Or all along the Esplanade - to the shade of our big tree?
Will we ever see Kakadu again - or swim in Wangi Falls?
Or visit the museum there and hear the wild bird calls?
Will we walk round Noorlangie Rock and see the termite mounds again?
Will we stay on Mitchell Street out there - will we be together then?
